Microsonatina (2007)
This miniature was a commission by Jan Lehtola, who had asked a
number of composers, including myself, to write only two bars of
music for harpsichord. These bars were to be performed and discussed
at a contemporary music seminar held at the Sibelius Academy in
Helsinki. There was no specification other than to write two bars.
I have therefore used the upper and lower lines of the keyboard
staff to form independent sections. Each section corresponds to
a part of the sonata form (1st subject, 2nd subject, development
and coda) which appears when the sections are arranged in the correct
order.
