A new setting of the English Mass for the Rosary Shrine in London.

'Mass of Our Lady of the Rosary' is a setting of the new translation of the English Mass written over two days (2nd and 3rd September 2019) with the forces of the 10 o'clock congregation at St Dominic's Priory in mind. It is for unison voices and organ with an optional part for children's choir in two of the movements. The midi files used in this  YouTube video, despite their crudity, are solely intended for use in learning the melody and hearing the music together with the score.

The 'Kyrie' uses upper (female) voices to lead, referencing the Mother of Christ. Movements are linked thematically and use the key of g minor to emphasise the 'Doloroso' mood of the slower sections. The 'Gloria', however, is a jubilant affirmation of the text with appropriate use of varying tempo towards the start. Sanctus - 'Star of the Sea' uses the plainchant hymn 'Ave Maris Stella' as the main melody set against a reflective accompaniment. 'Mystery of faith' refers to the same musical material as they 'Kyrie' and 'Agnus Dei' has thematic ties with elements of the 'Gloria'.
